What is OHAC?
OHAC is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers. These volunteers are your friends and neighbors. The members make up the “stock holders”.
How are membership rate determined?
The OHAC board determines the rates. Factored in are the fixed costs of operating the pools, labor costs (guards), and historical membership levels. These costs are then “divided” amongst the members. OHAC is run very frugally in an effort to keep costs down.
Who can be on my family membership?
Immediate family members and a caregiver if applicable (see below). Friends or other relatives must purchase their own membership or pay guest fees.
Can I get a discount for when I go on vacation?
Vacations are factored in the rates. If OHAC gave everyone a vacation discount, we would simply have to raise the pre-discount rates and then subtract the discount. Ultimately, everyone would pay the same amount in the end. We have instituted a 2 month membership for those that will be out of town for a portion of the summer.
Can I just pay for the days I use the pool?
No, OHAC operates just like private schools, day care centers, and sports teams. Just like these groups, most of OHAC’s costs are incurred whether you are there or not. Therefore OHAC, like these other organizations, price for a specific time period.
Can my caregiver be included in my family membership?
Yes, please list them on your application form so that they will be in the directory. Your caregiver is welcome to bring your children as your surrogate. If your caregiver has their own child that they care for along with your children, then that child must pay the guest fee.
Why do I have to pay guest fees if I already paid for membership?
State law limits the number of people on the grounds and determines the number of guards needed, therefore guests impact OHAC’s costs. It is only fair to other paying members that guests pay their share. Please be a good friend and neighbor by voluntarily paying your guest fees. Also, please remember that immediate family members do not qualify as guests and should be included in the appropriate membership.
If I purchase a 2 month membership, can I pick the start and stop dates?
No, the 2 month membership runs from the 1st to the end of the specific month. It would be impossible for OHAC to keep track of specific start and stop dates for every member.
If I purchase an individual membership, can I go to the pool with my child?
Individual memberships are for those12 and up. You obviously can drop off your child, but only members and their paid guests are allowed in the pool or on the deck. Please remember that immediate family members do not qualify as guests and should be included in the appropriate membership.
Do I have to purchase a family membership if my spouse or I do not swim/go to the pool?
If you have more than one child it is more economical to purchase a family membership. Family memberships are not priced by number of family members or how often individual members go to the pool. Those factors would be impossible for OHAC to manage.
Can I get the greeter discount for any membership option?
The greeter discount is only available for full summer family memberships. (FM)
Can my child join the swim/dive teams if we are not members?
Yes, there is a swim/dive only rate of $125 per child. This rate includes the cost of the meets, coaches, and guards. The swim/dive only option does not allow your child to use the pools outside of practice and meets. Members pay a lower rate because their membership fee already covers the cost of the coaches and guards.
Does OHAC prorate membership for part of the summer?
Yes, OHAC prorates membership for families moving in or out of the neighborhood. In order to be fair to all members (your friends and neighbors), this is the only time OHAC will prorate membership.
Can I include my grandchildren in my membership?
Yes, if you purchase a family membership or pay guest fees with your adult membership. Another option would be to make a donation and get family day passes.
Can I purchase an adult couple membership for me and my child?
No, this membership option is for adult couples only.
